Maintenance Design Group’s Houston office staff recently spent time at the Texas Special Olympics Fall Classic on October 22, 2011. The MDG volunteers, Mark Ellis, Kevin Robert, Tom Rieger, and Mark’s son Landon Ellis, were timers for the aquatic events held at the University of Texas A&M Natatorium.
The Texas Special Olympics Fall Classic includes athletes from all over the state in this national qualifying event, and included more than 100 delegations from around Texas, 1,300 athletes, 450 coaches and delegation volunteers, and 1,500 families, friends, community members, and volunteers. MDG staff had a great time interacting with the coaches and athletes. “It was truly a rewarding experience,” said Mark Ellis, Senior Project Manager in the Houston office. “Volunteering at the Special Olympics will be an annual event for the Houston Staff.”
The Houston staff has other volunteer events coming in the spring of 2012 with the Hays ISD Green House Project benefiting students with special needs and autism, and also assisting a local Boy Scout in documenting and development of drawings for his Eagle Scout Project.
