Charlotte-Douglas International Airport Fleet Maintenance Center

HDR | Maintenance Design Group (MDG), as part of the Design Team, were contracted by Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CDIA) to provide preliminary planning and design services for new maintenance facilities for Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. During the Phase I Program Verification/ Site Study Phase, HDR | MDG led the programming for CDIA Parking Operations, Bus Operations, Field Maintenance, Building Maintenance, Fleet Maintenance, Logistics Operations, and common support facilities for these operations. HDR | MDG also assisted in developing test fit site and building plans for the new consolidated maintenance facilities.

The Design Team worked on the Phase II design and construction phase services for the new vehicle maintenance facility for Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. Upon completion, CDIA Vehicle Maintenance Operations will be able to service a diverse vehicle fleet of over 500 vehicles and equipment in a state of the art facility with four light duty bays, six bus bays, six heavy duty bays, two fire apparatus bays, welding, and chassis wash bays.

Highlights:

  • A new bus wash building is also being completed for Bus Operations on an adjacent site.
