City of Grandview Parks and Public Works Vehicle Maintenance Facility
The City of Grandview Parks and Public Works Departments were housed on separate sites, creating operational inefficiencies and some duplication of functions. With the creation of a new Parks and Public Works Facility (PPW) Grandview is able to combine multiple departments into a single consolidated facility to provide more efficient and effective service to citizens and businesses.
Designed to fit on and within existing City-owned property, the PPW facility integrates with the existing site conditions including the need to work around current facilities on the site. These include a salt storage dome, fuel dispensing islands, and an existing maintenance building. As these facilities were already in use for service delivery to Grandview, it was necessary to maintain operations on the site throughout construction.
The new facility is sustainably designed and includes many opportunities for shared or joint work areas among departments. Sustainable features include extensive use of daylighting throughout, supplemented by high efficiency lighting; natural ventilation at vehicle maintenance bays, high reflectivity energy star roofing, high efficiency HVAC systems, low flow fixtures, insulated low E glazing, building re-use/repurposing and use of recycled and regional materials.
• Provision of joint or shared work areas to create overall efficiencies.
• Modern technology for communications, fuel management, and security monitoring.
• Use of multiple sustainable design strategies to reap environmental and cost savings.
