City of Manchester Fleet Maintenance Facility

Manchester, New Hampshire

The City of Manchester’s new Fleet Maintenance Facility consolidates the service of 500 vehicles/equipment for the Public Works, Police, Fire, Parks and general City use from five separate locations to one. Former facilities were both scattered and inadequate for the City’s needs.

The new facility is one of the largest fleet maintenance facilities in northern New England and includes: office, administrative, and parts management area, centralized fluids distribution, exhaust evacuation systems, mobile lifts, lower level undercarriage maintenance, welding area, electronics room for lights/radio work, tire carousels, engine/transmission room, paint booth, and a drive through vehicle wash with the ability to handle small cars to large ladder trucks.

Sustainable design features include radiant in-floor heat, a highly efficient heat recovery ventilation system, and a quality working environment for employees.

Project Highlights
• MDG programmed and master planned the site to consolidate all Manchester Department of Public Works (DPW) operations, Fleet Maintenance, and a new Public Safety Building into a single three-block campus project.
• The Public Safety, Fleet Maintenance, and DPW Administration building were built on the original DPW one block site in multiple phases all while maintaining existing DPW operations on site.
• The Fleet Maintenance building was designed to LEED Silver standards.
