Fresno FAX Transit Operations and Maintenance Facility

Fresno, California

The Fresno Area Express (FAX) Transit Operations and Maintenance Facility
was out of date and many aspects of the facility did not meet current codes
and standards. Maintenance Design Group (MDG) was contracted to assess
the current facility and equipment conditions and develop a master plan for
renovations to the current facility, as well as a new public amenities building.

The existing Fresno FAX facilities required updates to the adminstration/
operations building, the maintenance facility, and the fuel and wash facility.
MDG was tasked with determining the best possible layout and location for
the necessary functional elements to support the Fresno Fax operation. The
updates to the existing facilities will provide a fully functional, up to date facility
for Fresno FAX that will continue to function at the highest level of efficiency for
many years after construction.

Updates include the reconfiguration of employee parking areas, administrative
office and support areas for Administration and Operations staff, and Bus
Operator Support Areas. The Maintenance Building will include a new chassis
wash bay, bus maintenance offices, shops, and support areas, a new paint
booth, and a new high density parts storage area. Two new bus washers and
CNG bus fueling facility upgrades were also provided.
