Gold Coast Transit District Administration and Operations Facility

Oxnard, California

Gold Coast Transit District (GCTD) had outgrown its existing facilities and wanted to relocate to a new, larger site to accommodate their growing needs. Maintenance Design Group (MDG) led a planning team providing preliminary programming services to determine the site size for a new bus maintenance and operations facility, site selection guidance, and interim solutions for the existing site. MDG subsequently provided master planning services for the new facility in order to confirm the selected property was a viable solution and to begin the environmental study process.

Upon confirmation of all previous space needs and master planning programs, MDG was again selected to provide conceptual design, final design and construction documents for the new facility. The new transit facility includes an administration and operations building, fleet maintenance and repair building, bus fueling station with compressed natural gas (CNG), bus wash and maintenance support facilities, parking, and drainage facilities. MDG is also providing bid review and construction administration services throughout the entire process and will continue managing the project through move-in.

Project Highlights
• The new site allows for future growth as well as more efficient operations.
• Facilities are designed to accommodate CNG-fueled buses.
