Los Angeles Harbor College Facilities Management & Operations Headquarters

Los Angeles Harbor College’s operations were located in small buildings in the center of the campus. These buildings weren’t originally designed to be used as shop space, and the campus-central location made access awkward for tractor-trailers and refuse trucks. A lack of space for meetings made operations planning difficult.

With an eye to sustainable design, Maintenance Design Group provided a program and design concept for a facility located on the perimeter of the campus. The project was designed to meet LEED Silver requirements.

The new, consolidated headquarters facility provides shop space with proper ventilation and lighting, providing a safer and healthier environment for the staff. Deliveries and trash collection are much more efficient since vehicles have easy access to this site. The operations staff have ample office and meeting space in order to facilitate planning for campus operations.

Project Highlights
• The new facility includes charging stations for electric vehicles.
• Facility roofs were designed to accommodate photovoltaic panels in the future.
