Metro Gold Line Operations Campus

With the 11.5 mile extension of the Metro light rail Gold Line from Pasadena to Azusa, came the need for expanded operations and maintenance facilities. While the extension only necessitated the ability to service 20 cars, additional capacity was needed system-wide, particularly for heavy maintenance requirements.

The new facility will accommodate that need with the ability to house up to 84 light rail vehicles and provide areas for vehicle inspection, heavy repair, body repairs, painting, storage, cleaning and washing. In addition, nearly 200 Metro employees are expected to work at the facility. When completed, the facility’s main building includes sustainability measures that will qualify it for LEED Gold Certification.
