NC State University Facilities Operations and Grounds Management Support Facility
Raleigh, North Carolina
HDR | Maintenance Design Group was selected as part of the Design Team to provide preliminary planning services for a new Facilities Operations and Grounds Management Support Facility at NCSU’s Centennial Campus. HDR | MDG led the needs assessment and programming for service, shop, and warehouse facilities to support University Housekeeping, Environmental Health and Safety, Facilities Business Office, Grounds Management, Repair and Renovation, Utilities and Engineering Services, Building Maintenance and Operations, Waste Reduction and Recycling and identified common support facilities that could be shared between these operations.
Site selection services and a master planning charrette followed the completion of preliminary programming. HDR | MDG assisted with developing test fit site and building plans for the new consolidated maintenance facilities testing out the viability for development and capability to meet NCSU operational needs.
- Due to the size of the alternative sites available on the campus, alternative master plans developed included low density decentralized development on two sites and high density centralized alternatives on a single site.
