Park City Streets and Utilities Facility

Park City, Utah

Park City recently restructured their Public Works Department to create a separate Department of Public Utilities (DPU). The DPU consists of Water, Streets, and Storm Water Divisions. While operations of Public Works and DPU are located mainly in one over-crowded site, several support operations are conducted at satellite sites. A new, highly sustainable and functional 12.8 acre site will support a consolidated Public Utilities operation.

MDG was part of a comprehensive planning team, providing planning and design services for the new facility. MDG assisted with planning of administrative, operations, vehicle and material storage buildings, as well as an ancillary yard.

Highlights:

  • Highly sustainable features will help achieve the Net Zero Carbon goal. Alternative power sources such as solar are utilized. A micro-turbine power generation that pumps water to an on-site treatment pond, which stays at a constant temperature and can help heat/cool the building.
  • Site will also include 24 affordable studio housing units, located on the upper level of the facility.
  • State of the art equipment includes a wash and truck decant facilities and a brine making plant for deicing roads.
