East Valley Bus Operations and Maintenance Facility

Tempe, Arizona

The City of Tempe Transportation Division provides transit service to the Cities of Tempe, Scottsdale, and surrounding areas. The City identified the need for a new operations and maintenance facility to house their contract-provided service. The maintenance facility supports a fleet of more than 250 CNG, LNG, diesel, and electric-fueled transit vehicles and includes repair bays for standard-length transit buses as well as articulated buses. The facility also includes A/C repair bays, non-revenue vehicle repair bays, chassis wash, a tire bay/shop, and dedicated brake and machine shops. The master plan was coordinated with a future public works yard and included a new fueling facility constructed in conjunction with the East Valley Bus Operations and Maintenance Facility.

Maintenance Design Group was selected as an integral member of a multi-disciplined design team to develop a space needs program, site master planning, facility functional design, facility needs assessment, and equipment coordination services.
