UC Davis Service Unit Park

Davis, CA

UC Davis Operations & Maintenance, Grounds, and Mail Operations operated from several aged facilities around the University of California at Davis campus. Most of these facilities were located in proposed expansion areas for administrative and academic buildings. The facilities were already overburdened and most were not designed for operations and maintenance functions. UC Davis also wished to consolidate many other service activities on a new Service Unit Park site.

The Service Unit Building was Phase 1 of a multi-phase project to move the majority of the campus’ service units and maintenance shops to this site.  This facility houses the material management service units including Central Receiving, Bulk Mail, Campus Mail, and Special Services.  Phase 2 will include some of the maintenance shops, and Phase 3 will include offices and administration.

Notable Design Features

  • Utilized natural and xeriscape landscaping methods.
  • Interior walls were left exposed to allow natural light to filter to all spaces.
