Avondale Municipal Operations Center
The City of Avondale is a fast growing municipality. The previous facility was built in several stages and only temporarily met the needs of the operations staff. In order to meet the citizens’ requirements to maintain the infrastructure, the City needed a larger, modern operation service center.
Maintenance Design Group, as part of a design-build team, developed a space needs program and a long-range master plan, then designed the first phase of a new/expanded public works complex at the City’s existing complex.
In developing the master plan, the design team recommended the development of a new access road to the south of the complex and then located a new Operations Building to the south of the existing maintenance building, thus creating a new “front door” to the complex. The expanded Operations Center accommodates a fleet of 315 vehicles and a staff of 295 operations employees. It includes the Field Operations, Utilities, Parks Maintenance, Solid Waste, and Traffic divisions, and the Fleet Maintenance Facility.
• Created a new “front door” to the complex.
