City of Dixon Municipal Service Center

Dixon, California

The City of Dixon’s Municipal Service Center realized their existing facilities and working conditions do not meet their needs. With aging structures that are not safe nor operationally efficient, the City determined that they would required documentation and master planning to determine future staffing needs, functional requirements, and future space needs.

The City engaged MDG to document the City’s existing site, facilities and functions performed by departments including Transit (Bus) Operations, Public Works (including Parks, Landscaping, Building Maintenance, Streets, Storm Drains, Wastewater Collections, and Fleet Maintenance). MDG conducted interviews and meetings with current key staff, and held an interactive charrette that allowed the Team and the City to engage in a dynamic setting and create site concepts that met the needs of the City and key facility users. MDG also prepared a preliminary estimate of construction costs to guide the City in future planning.

  • The site combines bus transit with public works maintenance.
  • The priority for the City is the ability to wash vehicles properly.
