Metropolitan Water District of Southern California Diemer Plant and Vehicle Maintenance Facilities
Yorba Linda, California
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California needed to upgrade its Diemer Plant maintenance operations which were located in multiple buildings across the campus. Some were in temporary facilities that had become permanent, while others were located in basement spaces with inadequate access. The vehicle maintenance bays were too small and narrow to accommodate bigger trucks, had unsafe pits, and was in need of lighting, plumbing, and HVAC upgrades. Furthermore, the hillside on which the vehicle maintenance facilities were located was eroding. A replacement facility needed to be located elsewhere on the site.
A consolidated plant maintenance facility was built and designed to improve employee working conditions and operational efficiencies. It includes offices, crew areas, training facilities, pump, machine, welding, and electric shops, as well as a new vehicle maintenance center to remedy the unsafe and insufficient space in the old facility.
• Several scattered facilities were consolidated for operational efficiencies and improved working conditions.
• New maintenance bays accommodate bigger vehicles with safer access.
• New amenities include lockers and crew meeting/training spaces.
