Park City Streets and Utilities Facility
Park City, Utah
Park City recently restructured their Public Works Department to create a separate Department of Public Utilities (DPU). The DPU consists of Water, Streets, and Storm Water Divisions. While operations of Public Works and DPU are located mainly in one over-crowded site, several support operations are conducted at satellite sites. A new, highly sustainable and functional 12.8 acre site will support a consolidated Public Utilities operation.
MDG was part of a comprehensive planning team, providing planning and design services for the new facility. MDG assisted with planning of administrative, operations, vehicle and material storage buildings, as well as an ancillary yard.
- Highly sustainable features will help achieve the Net Zero Carbon goal. Alternative power sources such as solar are utilized. A micro-turbine power generation that pumps water to an on-site treatment pond, which stays at a constant temperature and can help heat/cool the building.
- Site will also include 24 affordable studio housing units, located on the upper level of the facility.
- State of the art equipment includes a wash and truck decant facilities and a brine making plant for deicing roads.
